E-commerce Claude Connectors

E-commerce Claude Connectors

AI summary

Claude’s e-commerce connectors are a small, focused set: Shopify for store data, Polar Analytics for cross-channel revenue, Klaviyo for lifecycle (overlapping with marketing), Square and Razorpay for payments. The two workflows that pay off fastest: product description generation grounded in your own catalog voice and SEO keywords, and abandoned-cart triage that pulls the cart, the customer history, the catalog item, and drafts a personalized recovery email.

A connector is a connection to data, not a magic button. It tells Claude where to read. Whether the output is useful still depends on what you ask and how you check the result.

E-commerce has a smaller connector category than most because the workflow is concentrated: store, payments, lifecycle email. Shopify covers most of the store layer for SMB to mid-market; Square and Razorpay cover regional payments; Klaviyo handles lifecycle. The payoff from Claude shows up in two places: generating consistent product copy at catalog scale, and recovering revenue from abandoned carts with messages that feel personal.

What does the e-commerce category include?

  • Storefront and catalog. Shopify. Read products, orders, customers, inventory, fulfillment status.
  • Cross-channel revenue analytics. Polar Analytics. Combines Shopify with paid channels and attribution.
  • Lifecycle and email. Klaviyo (also in marketing pillar). Customer segmentation and email automation grounded in store data.
  • Payments. Square (retail, food, in-person), Razorpay (India, Southeast Asia), Stripe (also in finance pillar).
  • Specialty. Adjacent connectors useful for ecommerce: Mixpanel for product analytics, Microsoft Clarity for session replay, Ahrefs for SEO product-page positioning.

Which e-commerce connector should I add first?

Most e-commerce teams need three connectors. Pick them in this order.

  1. Shopify. If your store runs on Shopify, this connector unlocks the most common workflows. Five minutes to set up.
  2. Klaviyo. The lifecycle email tool that pairs natively with Shopify data. Connect both, and abandoned-cart recovery becomes one-click drafting.
  3. Polar Analytics or Stripe. Polar Analytics if you run paid channels across Meta, Google, TikTok. Stripe if your subscription billing happens outside of Shopify.

Standout prompts for the e-commerce stack

These are the prompts that exploit each connector’s specific capability rather than treating Claude like a generic chat tool. Copy, paste, modify the specifics to match your context.

  • Catalog Copy at Scale. Reads your Shopify product catalog, drafts new descriptions for the 30 products with the weakest copy, in your brand voice with target SEO keywords baked in.
  • Abandoned Cart Recovery, Personalized. Reads abandoned carts from the last 24 hours via Shopify plus Klaviyo. For each cart, pulls the customer’s purchase history and the product page, drafts a recovery email that references something specific about their cart, not a generic discount blast.
  • Restock Priority from Sales Velocity. Reads Shopify inventory plus the last 30 days of sales. Ranks products by sell-through rate and current stock, drafts the restock priority list with reasoning.
  • Returns Pattern Diagnosis. Reads the last 60 days of returns, clusters by reason and product, surfaces the three SKUs with the highest return rates plus the root cause for each.
  • Bundle Suggestion from Co-Purchase. Reads Shopify order data, surfaces the top product pairs frequently bought together, drafts bundle landing-page copy for each.
  • Discount Campaign Brief. Pulls revenue and margin data from Polar Analytics. Drafts a discount campaign brief that targets the lowest-margin SKUs with overstock, not the bestsellers.
  • Subject Line Round Robin from Past Performance. Generates three subject line variations for the next Klaviyo campaign, each grounded in what historically performed for that segment.
  • Product Page SEO Refresh. Connect Shopify plus Ahrefs. For the top 20 products by traffic, drafts updated meta titles and descriptions optimized for the keywords they almost rank for.
  • Customer Service Macro Library. Reads past support tickets, clusters into common questions, drafts macro responses that match your brand voice.
  • Pre-Launch Campaign Brief from Catalog. Given a new product launch date, reads the catalog for similar products, the historical campaign performance for those, drafts a pre-launch email and ad sequence.

How do I add the Shopify connector?

  1. In Claude, open the toolbox in the bottom-left, click Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Click the +, then Browse connectors.
  3. Search for Shopify. Click + on the card.
  4. The Shopify OAuth flow opens. Sign in to Shopify as a staff member with the right permissions. Approve the scopes (read_products, read_orders, read_customers by default; add write scopes only if needed).
  5. Test: “Show me my five most recent orders and their product names.” If they come back, Shopify is live.

Klaviyo and Polar Analytics use API keys generated in their respective admin panels. Square and Razorpay use OAuth. For Shopify Plus stores, your developer team may want to scope the connector to specific staff roles for compliance reasons.

What are the limits?

  • Write actions are conservative. Updating products, changing prices, fulfilling orders all require explicit write scope. Default is read-only.
  • Catalog size matters. For stores with 10,000+ SKUs, a single “read all products” prompt will exceed context. Batch by collection or product type.
  • Real-time vs lagged data. Order data is near real-time; aggregate analytics (Polar) may lag by a few hours.
  • Klaviyo is the place to send, Claude is the place to draft. The Klaviyo connector lets Claude pull data and draft copy. Actually sending campaigns happens through Klaviyo’s send UI by default; write scope to trigger sends is opt-in.

Are these connectors safe to use with work data?

E-commerce data includes customer PII and order history. For paid Claude plans the safeguards:

  • Shopify scopes are per-staff-role. Use a staff account with read-only access for the connector instead of pasting the master admin token.
  • PCI-scope: card data never flows through the connector. Shopify stores payment-method tokens; the actual card numbers stay with the payment processor.
  • If your store serves the EU or California, confirm your privacy policy reflects Claude as a data processor before connecting customer data.
  • Klaviyo lists with thousands of subscriber emails are still PII. Treat list-export prompts the same way you would any other customer-data export.

When does a connector pay off vs. just chatting with Claude?

Connectors earn their setup time when the data updates faster than you can retype it, lives behind login, or runs into the thousands of items. For one-off questions about static information, plain Claude through the chat interface is faster than installing anything. The break-even is usually around the third time you would otherwise be copy-pasting context for the same kind of question. Frequently asked questions

Can Claude update product prices?

With write scope, yes. Most stores keep it as draft-confirm: Claude drafts the price change, the merchant clicks to commit in Shopify admin.

Will Claude send Klaviyo campaigns automatically?

Only with explicit send scope, which is opt-in. Draft-and-review is the default and we recommend keeping it that way for the first quarter.

Can Claude write product descriptions in my brand voice?

Yes if you give it a brand voice doc or feed it 10-15 existing descriptions to study first. Quality varies with how much voice context you provide.

Does the Shopify connector work with Shopify Plus?

Yes, with the same OAuth flow. Plus stores often have stricter staff-permission requirements; coordinate with whoever administers your Shopify Plus instance.

Can Claude analyze Meta or Google Ads through these connectors?

Indirectly via Polar Analytics or Supermetrics, which aggregate cross-channel ad data. Direct Meta and Google Ads connectors are not in the current catalog.

Does Klaviyo integration require I move my email program to Claude?

No. Klaviyo stays your email platform. Claude reads Klaviyo data and drafts content; the actual send happens in Klaviyo.
