What it is: the online-store corner of AI automation, where AI writes the listings, the SEO, the thank-yous, and the launch posts, and flags the orders that need you.
Who it is for: solo and small-team store owners who would rather sell than spend the week writing descriptions and chasing orders.
Where to start: if you have unlisted stock, start with product descriptions; if orders pile up, start with thank-yous or order flags. Make is the friendliest tool to build in.
Good to know: listings land as drafts, customer notes stay drafts, and launch posts queue for approval. You publish; AI does the writing.

Running a store is a hundred small writing-and-watching jobs: descriptions, SEO, thank-yous, launch posts, and the order notes you cannot afford to miss. This page is the e-commerce set of our AI automation hub, a group of build guides that hand those jobs to a workflow so your time goes to product and customers.
Every build pairs Claude for the writing or judgment with the plumbing that watches your store. Anything a customer will see, a listing, a note, a launch post, lands as a draft or a queue for your approval. AI does the typing; you keep the final word on what goes live.
What is e-commerce automation, in plain English?
It is a short chain that does a store chore. A product or an order appears, an automation tool carries it through a step or two, and you get back a written listing, an optimized page, a drafted note, an alert, or a queued post. Claude does the writing and judging; the tool does everything around it; you publish or send.
Across these builds the AI step does one of a few jobs:
- Writes product descriptions and SEO from a few facts.
- Personalizes a thank-you that names what the customer bought.
- Flags the order with a deadline or special request.
- Promotes a new product with launch posts.
What can you automate first?
Each guide takes one real store chore from an empty canvas to a working automation, with a screenshot of the finished build and a free importable template. We use Shopify, but the shapes swap to WooCommerce or others. Pick your biggest time sink:
| Build | What it does | The pairing |
|---|---|---|
| Write product descriptions | A sheet of products becomes Shopify draft listings | Sheets + Claude + Shopify |
| SEO-optimize products | Each new product gets a search title, meta, and tags | Shopify + Claude |
| Order thank-yous | A personal note per order, drafted in Gmail | Shopify + Claude + Gmail |
| Flag order issues | A Slack ping when an order needs a human | Shopify + Claude + Slack |
| Promote new products | Launch posts queued in Buffer for each drop | Shopify + Claude + Buffer |
Every guide comes with a free importable template. Subscribe to the daily newsletter and grab them all on the thank-you page, next to our Special Reports. Import one, connect your own accounts, and you are running in minutes.
Why pair Claude with an automation tool?
Because they are good at opposite things. Claude is strong at writing a listing, an SEO title, a thank-you, or judging an order. It is not built to watch your store, create products, save drafts, or queue posts. That is plumbing, and a tool like Make does plumbing.
So the tool handles every step that needs no judgment, and Claude handles the writing and the judgment. Think of the tool as the stockroom that moves things, and Claude as the copywriter and the sharp-eyed clerk. Neither replaces the other, and neither replaces you: you publish the listing, send the note, and approve the launch.
Will AI publish to my store or customers on its own?
Not in these builds. Product listings are created as drafts for you to publish, thank-you notes land as drafts you send, and launch posts wait in a Buffer queue for approval. The two builds that act on their own, SEO fields and order flags, only touch internal data or alert your team, never the customer. A wrong price on a live product or a thank-you naming the wrong item is worse than doing it by hand, so a person always publishes.
How much does it cost to start?
Less than most people expect. Make’s free plan covers 1,000 operations a month. Claude charges per use, and writing a description, SEO, or a note costs a fraction of a cent. Shopify, Gmail, Slack, and a free Buffer plan are tools you likely already have. These builds can even replace a paid SEO or description app.
Do you need to know how to code?
No. Every guide is connecting boxes on a visual canvas and writing a plain-English prompt for the AI step. The judgment is in your prompt, your brand voice, your SEO rules, what counts as an order to flag, not in any code. Our Make AI scenarios roundup and the AI Tools Directory are good next stops.

Common questions
Which build should I start with?
Whatever wastes the most of your week. Unlisted stock? Product descriptions. Orders piling up? Thank-yous or order flags. SEO neglected? The SEO build.
Do I have to use Shopify for these builds?
The guides use Shopify, but WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and others have the same triggers and actions. Swap the store module; the Claude step stays the same.
Will AI put wrong info on my store?
Not if you keep the human steps: drafts for listings and notes, a queue for posts. You review before anything customers see goes live.
Can I run several together?
Yes. Many stores run descriptions, SEO, thank-yous, flags, and launch posts side by side on the same store.
Is the Claude chat app the same as the API?
Same models, different door. The automations talk to the API, so you need a key from the Claude console.
