Build a Meeting Prep Agent

What you build: an agent that, before a meeting, researches who you are meeting and their company and hands you a one-page brief.

Who it is for: anyone who walks into calls underprepared. No code.

Time: about 15 minutes.

Free build prompt: it is yours when you join the free daily Beginners in AI newsletter.

Walking into a call without context is a missed chance, and prepping by hand eats time you do not have. So here I build an agent that does the homework for me: give it a name and company, and it writes a tight one-page brief before the meeting.

What will you build?

A meeting prep agent. You give it who you are meeting and where they work, and it researches them and writes a brief: who they are, what the company does, recent news, and a few smart questions to ask. Hook it to your calendar later and it can prep you automatically.

What do you need to start?

  • A free Gumloop account.
  • Web search switched on for the agent.
  • A name and company to test with.

How does it work?

It is an agent with web search and clear instructions on what a good brief contains. You ask, it researches, it writes.

Ask the agent who you are meeting; it researches and returns a one-page brief.

How do you build it, step by step?

Create a New Agent, switch on web search, and paste:

You are my meeting prep assistant. Given a person and their company,
research them and write a one-page brief: who they are, what the
company does, one or two recent developments with sources, and three
smart questions I could ask. Keep it tight and skimmable.

How do you set the model to Claude?

Open the AI step or agent and pick the model. For careful work I use Claude 4.8 Opus, the “Smartest” option; a faster model saves credits on simple runs.

How do you run it?

Type a name and company and run it. Read the brief before your call. Once you trust it, connect your calendar so it preps you for tomorrow’s meetings on its own.

What can go wrong?

  • Thin results. Common names are hard to pin down. Give it the company and a link to be sure it has the right person.
  • Stale facts. Ask it to date and source its “recent news” so you can check.
  • Over-trust. Skim the sources before you rely on a fact in the room. See the AI Tools Directory.

Common questions

Do I need to code it?

No. You write the agent instructions and switch on web search.

Can it prep me automatically?

Yes. Connect your calendar and it can brief you on upcoming meetings without being asked.

Will it run on the free plan?

You can build and test it on free credits. Daily auto-prep uses more.

How does it find information?

Through the web search tool you switch on. That is what lets it research a person and company.

Does it use Claude?

It can. Claude 4.8 Opus is the “Smartest” model for reading and summarizing.
