Project Management Connectors

Project management with Claude Connectors

AI summary

Claude’s project-management connectors cover Linear, Asana, monday.com, ClickUp, Notion, Atlassian (Jira plus Confluence), Smartsheet, Airtable, Todoist, plus the Apple ecosystem (Apple Notes, iMessages). The two workflows that pay off fastest: meeting-to-tasks (transcript in, tickets out, assigned to the right people in the right project), and weekly project digest (read all activity from the past week, summarize for the team, surface blockers). Notion sits at #6 popular for a reason; it is the most common knowledge-work hub.

A connector is a connection to data, not a magic button. It tells Claude where to read. Whether the output is useful still depends on what you ask and how you check the result.

Project management connectors turn Claude from a chat tool into a project participant. The catalog covers two categories: the formal task-management tools (Linear for engineering, Asana and monday.com for cross-functional teams, ClickUp for ops, Jira for enterprise software), and the knowledge-and-task hybrids (Notion, which sits at #6 on Anthropic’s popularity ranking, plus Atlassian Confluence, Airtable, Mem). Pick one task tool and one knowledge tool to start. Claude bridges them.

What does the project and knowledge management category include?

  • Engineering and product PM. Linear, Atlassian Jira, ClickUp. Sprint planning, ticket triage, status rollups.
  • Cross-functional PM. Asana, monday.com, Smartsheet, Airtable, Zoho Projects. Marketing campaigns, ops workflows, mixed-team plans.
  • Knowledge and docs. Notion, Atlassian Confluence, Mem. Wikis, meeting notes, internal docs.
  • Personal task management. Todoist, Drafts, Apple Notes, iMessages, Process Street. Solo workflows and personal capture.
  • Database-style PM. Airtable, Notion (with databases), Smartsheet. When your project tracking is closer to a structured database than a task list.

Which project and knowledge management connector should I add first?

Two connectors cover most teams. Pick one task system and one knowledge system; let Claude bridge them.

  1. Your team’s task system. Linear if you ship software, Asana or monday.com for everything else, Jira if you are at a large org that standardized on it.
  2. Notion. If your team uses it, this is the highest-value second connector. Meeting notes, project briefs, and internal wikis all become Claude-readable.
  3. Optional: Airtable. Only if you have structured project data in Airtable (asset libraries, content calendars, applicant tracking).
  4. Optional: Todoist or Apple Notes. If you want Claude to read and update your personal task list alongside your team tools.

Standout prompts for the project and knowledge management stack

These are the prompts that exploit each connector’s specific capability rather than treating Claude like a generic chat tool. Copy, paste, modify the specifics to match your context.

  • Meeting-to-Tickets. Reads yesterday’s meeting transcript, extracts action items, creates tickets in Linear or Asana with the right assignee, due date, and project label.
  • Daily Sprint Brief. Morning routine. Reads your Linear board, surfaces blockers and items at risk of slipping, drafts the standup update.
  • Weekly Project Digest. Reads all activity in a project over the past week, writes a one-page summary for the team: what shipped, what is in flight, what is blocked.
  • Status Report from Activity. Reads your sent email, completed tickets, and Notion edits from the past week. Drafts the status update your manager wants.
  • Notion Database Query. Treat Notion like a real database. ‘Find every project tagged “Q3” with an owner who left the company.’ Claude pulls the right rows.
  • Refile Inbox to Project. You drop a fast voice memo or note into Apple Notes or Drafts. Claude routes it to the right project, creates the ticket, files the supporting notes in Notion.
  • Backlog Grooming. Reads the entire backlog, surfaces duplicates, suggests merges and reprioritizations, drafts the cleanup pull request.
  • Cross-Project Dependency Map. Reads Linear and Asana together, identifies tickets that depend on other tickets across projects, surfaces the riskiest dependency chains.
  • Notion Page Refresh. Reads a stale Notion doc, pulls fresher source data from Slack and tickets, drafts the update inline for your review.
  • Stakeholder Update from Notion + Tickets. Combines the weekly project digest with the relevant Notion meeting notes, drafts a quarterly board-ready update.

How do I add the Notion connector?

  1. In Claude, open the toolbox in the bottom-left, click Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Click the +, then Browse connectors.
  3. Search for Notion. Click + on the card (it sits at #6 popular).
  4. The Notion OAuth flow opens. Sign in. Choose which workspaces and which pages Claude can access (per-page selection is safer than full workspace).
  5. Test: “Find a Notion page with the word ‘roadmap’ in the title.” If it surfaces a result, Notion is live.

Same pattern works for Linear, Asana, monday.com, ClickUp, and Jira. Atlassian Confluence comes bundled with the Jira connector under the Atlassian Rovo card (#7 popular). The personal-task tools (Todoist, Apple Notes, iMessages) use the same OAuth pattern, scoped to your individual account.

What are the limits?

  • Write actions need explicit scope. Reading tickets is the default. Creating, updating, or moving tickets requires you to grant write scope during setup.
  • Notion page selection matters. If you grant Claude access to a single page, it sees that page plus child pages only. Grant workspace-wide access to enable broader queries.
  • Cross-tool linking is manual. Claude can read both Linear and Notion separately, but it does not auto-link Linear tickets to Notion pages. You provide the relationship in the prompt.
  • Recurrence is best-effort. Linear and Asana support recurring tickets; Claude can read them but recurrence-pattern parsing depends on the source tool’s accuracy.

Are these connectors safe to use with work data?

For paid Claude plans, data accessed via connectors is not used to train models and is not retained beyond what is needed for the request. For project-management data the practical safeguards:

  • Read-only by default. Claude does not create or modify tickets unless you grant write scope during setup.
  • Notion’s page-level OAuth gives you fine-grained control. Only grant access to pages Claude should see.
  • If your org uses Confluence for sensitive HR or financial docs, restrict Confluence connector access to a non-sensitive space first, then expand.
  • Connector access is per-user OAuth. Each team member authenticates as themselves and sees only what their role allows in the source tool.

When does a connector pay off vs. just chatting with Claude?

Connectors earn their setup time when the data updates faster than you can retype it, lives behind login, or runs into the thousands of items. For one-off questions about static information, plain Claude through the chat interface is faster than installing anything. The break-even is usually around the third time you would otherwise be copy-pasting context for the same kind of question. Frequently asked questions

Can Claude create tickets in Linear automatically?

Yes if you grant write scope. We recommend keeping it as draft-confirm: Claude drafts the ticket with title, description, assignee, project, label; you click to commit. Stops Claude from creating duplicates if it misinterprets a meeting note.

Does Claude read all my Notion pages?

Only the ones you grant access to during OAuth. Notion lets you scope per-page or per-workspace. Per-page is safer for the first few weeks while you learn what Claude is good at.

Can Claude write to Confluence?

Yes via the Atlassian Rovo connector (#7 popular), which bundles Jira and Confluence. Write scope is granular. You can grant read-everywhere plus write-only-in-specific-spaces.

What if my team uses both Linear AND Jira?

Connect both. Claude treats them as separate sources and you specify which one to use in each prompt. For migration work, it can read tickets from one and draft them into the other.

Does the Apple Notes connector work on Windows?

No. Apple Notes and iMessages connectors require macOS and an Apple ID logged in on the same device.

Can Claude read closed tickets?

Yes for Linear, Asana, monday.com, ClickUp, Jira. The connector exposes the full ticket history by default; you can scope to active only via prompt filter.
