Best AI Music Generators 2026: Suno vs Udio vs Lyria Compared

The short version: Suno is the best all-round AI music generator for songs with vocals, especially since its v6 models arrived in September 2026; you need its Pro plan ($10 a month) to download more than a handful of songs or use them commercially. Google’s Lyria 3.5 makes songs right inside the Gemini app. ElevenLabs Music is the pick for licensed commercial tracks, Stable Audio and Soundraw for instrumentals, and AIVA for film and game scores. Udio still makes good songs but has switched off downloads.

Which AI music generator is best?

1. Suno

Best for: songs with vocals you can download and use

Suno’s v6 models (September 2026) are the most polished all-round song makers. Type a description or paste your lyrics and you get two full versions in about a minute. The free plan (50 credits a day, about 10 songs) is generous for trying it but allows only 7 downloads in total and no commercial use, so most people who use the songs will want Pro. 2. Google Lyria 3.5 (in Gemini)

Best for: quick songs without signing up for anything new

Google’s Lyria 3.5 makes songs with vocals from a text prompt or a picture. You can use it in the Gemini app (age 18 and over): choose a short track of about a minute or a full one of two to three minutes. Every track carries Google’s invisible SynthID watermark. Google doesn’t publish exact limits or a commercial-use policy for these songs. Our Lyria guide has more.

3. ElevenLabs Music

Best for: licensed tracks for commercial projects

ElevenLabs Music makes vocal or instrumental tracks in several languages. The free plan is for personal use only. From the $6 Starter plan, ElevenLabs says you can use its music commercially, except in film, TV and big-studio games.

4. Udio

Best for: making and sharing songs on Udio itself

Udio’s vocals are excellent, but after settling with Universal Music it switched off downloads in October 2025 while it moves to new versions trained only on licensed music. You can still create songs and share links to them on its site. Plans start free (3 songs a day). See our Udio guide.

5. Stable Audio 3.0

Best for: instrumentals, loops and sound effects

Stability AI says Stable Audio 3.0 is trained on licensed music and that you own what you make. It is built for background music and sound effects, not songs with words. The free plan lets you make about 12 full tracks a month for free.

6. AIVA

Best for: film, game and classical-style scores

AIVA writes instrumental music you can edit note by note. Pricing is in euros and billed yearly. On the free and Standard plans, AIVA keeps the copyright. You own your music only on Pro (€33 a month).

7. Soundraw

Best for: background music for videos

Soundraw lets you shape instrumental tracks by mood, length and energy. There is no free plan, but every paid plan covers commercial use, and its artist plans allow releasing songs on streaming services.

8. Boomy

Best for: fast, simple songs you can release

Boomy makes quick tracks in a few clicks. You can’t download anything on the free plan. The $9.99 Creator plan adds downloads, commercial use and the right to release your songs on streaming services.

9. Mubert

Best for: ambient music and long background loops

Mubert Render generates instrumental tracks up to 25 minutes long. The free and $14 plans are non-commercial; commercial use starts at Pro ($39 a month).

Can you use AI-generated music commercially?

It depends on the plan, not just the tool. Almost every free plan is personal use only. Read the license before you put a track in a paid video, an ad or a client project, and save a copy of the license as it stood on the day you made the track.

If you plan to release songs, check the streaming services’ rules too. Spotify says vocal impersonation is allowed only when the artist has authorized it, that it removed over 75 million spammy tracks in a year, and that it filters mass uploads designed to game recommendations. Since April 2026 it has been testing a label in song credits that shows when an artist says they used AI.
